There were arguments for and against many strategies, or policies showcased in this epic story, ultimately highlighting the fact that these epic tales are still very close to our heart. People were furious when Draupadi was humiliated in the rajasabha or when Abhimanyu was killed in Chakravyuha, they were curious to know about many stories in incognito period of pandavaas and they also cried when the great warrior Karna died at the hands of Arjuna.
Quite obvious observation from the ongoing twitter trends and hashtags around it. There are millions of others who share this feeling. We wanted to absorb all of it, freeze those frames forever in our minds - and all this in spite of the fact that the episodes are available online, and can be watched again technically anytime. All three of us (myself, my husband, and my 11 year old son) watched it with great focus, and tremendous involvement. Yesterday, the last episode of Mahabharata was aired. They dominated the screen just like they did when they were on air for the first time, some 30+ years back. The repeat telecast of epic serials like Ramayana and Mahabharata broke all the TRP records in recent times.
A part of these efforts was to telecast a few old very popular serials again on the national television. Just like many other governments, Indian government is taking all the efforts to make this lockdown period as comfortable as possible for its citizens. Lockdown, social distancing, and stayhomestaysafe - these phrases are going to stay and so are those practices. Since last many weeks, we are getting acquainted to a new set of phrases.
